Press Release
Published on 10 March 2025
Stratford-on-Avon District Council is on track to deliver home energy upgrades to over 110 properties through the second phase of the Home Upgrade Grant (HUG2).
Energy efficiency measures such as loft insulation, cavity wall insulation, high heat retention electric storage heaters and solar photovoltaic power systems have already been successfully installed in over 50 homes. The remaining works will be carried out before the scheme deadline of 31 March 2025.
Pictured below is Ms Christine Pickering of Butlers Marston, who received both loft insulation and solar photovoltaic panels through the HUG2 scheme.
Ms Pickering expressed her gratitude and commented that: "I would like to say how pleased I am for everything connected to the Home Upgrade Grant, especially the brilliant set of workers who came to install everything. They were polite, friendly, professional, and left everything clean and tidy. I am very pleased with the result."
Council is now looking forward to the next government funded scheme, Warm Homes Local Grant (WHLG). Like HUG2, WHLG will aim to improve the energy efficiency of homes to increase warmth, decrease health risks associated with living in cold conditions, and reduce fuel bills.
Details of the new scheme are still to be confirmed, and will be posted on the Energy and Warmth pages as soon as they become available.
Cllr Susan Juned, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council said: "We are pleased to have been able to help so many district residents make their homes warmer and reduce their fuel bills through the Home Upgrade Grant.
"I would encourage residents to keep an eye on our website, newsletter and social channels to find out details for the upcoming Warm Homes Local Grant, and apply as soon as possible when the scheme opens to avoid missing out."
Council has worked closely with partners EON and Act on Energy to deliver the HUG2 scheme. While delivery partners for the WHLG scheme have not yet been finalised, Act on Energy are always available to provide free and impartial advice about what funding might be available.
