Warwickshire Rural Hub were delighted to be able to offer Free Trees for Farmers again this year.
There was an overwhelming response from landowners, but trees were offered to all that applied for them.
Heart of England Forest hosted a collection day yesterday, Thursday 9 January, at Coughton Fields Farm. In total an amazing 13,000 trees were given out to be planted.
The trees were funded by Stratford District Council and were available to all farmers and landowners lying within the district.
Cllr Susan Juned, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council said: "The planting and restoration of trees is an effective natural solution for combating climate change and restoring biodiversity. Woodlands are of real benefit to both people and nature, as well as locking up carbon.
"I am really pleased that we have been able to work together again with the Heart of England Forest to support this free trees for farmers initiative."
The Free Trees for Farmers scheme is also being supported by Warwickshire Wildlife Trust, as well as the Trees Call to Action Project, a partnership between the Heart of England Forest and the District Councils of Stratford, Wychavon and Warwick, aiming to increase tree cover across the three districts by working with local communities and landowners.
Various tree packs were available, which allowed farmers to find the perfect species mix for their land, including hedgerow packs, fruit tree packs, and woodland packs. The Trees Call to Action Project were also on hand to offer practical support for landowners including planting and aftercare advice.
