Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Pest Control service last week removed an enormous wasps' nest from a resident's property in Armscote.
The nest was discovered in a storage cupboard in the roof space of the property and measured 2ft 6 inches across. It was made by German Wasps and would have held several thousand wasps.
Pest Control Officer at the District Council, says: "Wasps can and do build their nests inside houses. We have treated wasps' nests in bedroom cupboards, lofts and many surprising locations, but this is definitely the largest nest that I have ever had to deal with."
Pest Control Advice
If you are finding wasps inside your house on a daily basis, there is a chance that you may have a wasps' nest within the building. Very often wasps find their way into the house from the loft space through small gaps and cracks in cupboards and also badly fitting loft hatches. Also look out for wasps flying in and out of fascia boards and roof tiles, and if nests are left untreated they can potentially damage plasterboard by chewing. Wasps are attracted to the light and fall through the small gap between the light bulb and the metal casing.
If you experience this issue, Pest Control Officers from Stratford-on-Avon District Council can safely and efficiently remove wasps' nests.
