Stratford-on-Avon District Council will host an open day on Thursday 20 September to help with wireless broadband connectivity across the district.

The District Council is committed to assisting in the provision of improved fast broadband connectivity for local communities and has made it a corporate priority.  However, the rural nature of the district makes this a challenge, and when the existing highly successful BDUK (Broadband Delivery UK) contracts come to an end (Contract 2 at the end of 2018 and Contract 3 at the end of 2019), there will still be some areas experiencing slower speeds.

The Government has launched the Gigabit Voucher Connection Scheme, which offers Fibre to the Premises solutions at speeds from 100 Mbps to 1 Gbps (ie 1000 Mbps). This scheme is supplier-led, with a wide range of suppliers offering different solutions.

The District Council will be holding the open day in September at the District Council offices in Stratford-upon-Avon where potential suppliers will showcase their services, giving residents and businesses the chance to discuss individual needs and to find out which service offers the best solutions.

The open day will have a 'marketplace' format and will be a drop-in event running from 11am to 3pm.

More information will be available about the suppliers nearer the time.

A letter from the Leader of the District Council, Cllr Tony Jefferson, has been sent to Parish Councils and stakeholders inviting them to attend the event.

Anyone interested in attending the event can call the District Council on 01789 260470 for more information.
