Safety work on two trees on Bancroft Gardens, Stratford-upon-Avon is due to start next week.
Two independent tree surveys have identified two Common Lime trees, near to the fountain, to be a risk and require removal.
The tree works will be carried out in partnership with Warwickshire County Council's Forestry team and is expected to last for 2-3 days, weather permitting. The footpath nearest the trees will be closed for the duration of the works with a diversion route in place.
Replacement planting of 2 similar semi-mature trees will be carried out immediately afterwards in the same location.
The District Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience the works may cause.
Weather permitting the works are due to start on Monday 10 December.
Cllr Mike Brain, Services for the Community Portfolio says: "The District Council regularly carry out inspections on all trees on District Council owned land to monitor their health. Ongoing works have found significant decay in both these trees and sadly the only course of action is to remove them. However, the trees will be immediately replaced with semi-mature trees in the same location."
- An independent tree survey was first carried out in autumn 2017 looking at the visual assessment of the trees, which identified issues with the two Common Limes.
- A further independent resistograph assessment (looking at internal decay) was carried out on these trees in autumn 2018.
- The trees will be replaced with 2 x Common Limes (16-18cm diameter).
