Stratford-on-Avon District Council will be hosting a promotional event, for the recently launched Refill Stratford Scheme, this Friday 18 October in the town.

Staff from the District Council will be at the Cornmarket Exchange - the area at the junction at the top of Sheep Street and High Street - from 10am on Friday 18 October to promote the scheme.

Cllr Ian Shenton, Operations Portfolio says: "As a District Council we recognise the urgent need to reduce single use plastic waste and that is why we have joined the national Refill scheme.  We've had a great response from businesses so far and we want to encourage as many businesses across the district to sign up, as well as promoting this fabulous scheme to residents.

"If you're out and about in Stratford this Friday come and see us to learn more about Refill and grab some freebies! We'd love to see you there."

The first 500 people to come along and download the app will receive a free water flask.

If you run a business and would like to sign up or learn more about the scheme, you can visit the District Council's website or sign up to the scheme via the Refill app.

Refill is a nationwide scheme providing a network of points offering the public free tap water in the UK. The network comprises high street retailers, cafes, restaurants, other businesses, museums, and local authorities. The scheme aims to prevent waste created by single-use plastic water bottles, as well as increasing the availability of quality drinking water.
