Five candidates contested the seat for the by-election for the Welford-on-Avon ward in Stratford-on-Avon District.

  • Neal Appleton (Independent) - 231 votes
  • Richard Cox (Conservative) - 323 votes                                  
  • Anthony Kent (Labour) - 41 votes
  • Manuela Perteghella (Liberal Democrats) - 472 votes Elected
  • John Stott (Green Party)  - 15 votes

Turn out for this election was 32.1%
Number of ballot papers issued: 1084
Turnout for the last contested election at Welford-on-Avon in May 2019 was 44.7%.

The electorate for the Welford-on-Avon ward is 3,377.

The current political make-up of the District Council's 36 seats is now:

  • Conservatives - 19 seats
  • Liberal Democrats - 12 seats
  • Independent - 4 seats
  • Green - 1 seat

36 seats in total

The by-election follows the sad and unexpected death of Cllr Peter Barnes (Independent) in January.
