Stratford-on-Avon District's CCTV system has received the British Standard Accreditation which recognises good management and practice for the seventeenth year. Accreditation under British Standard 7958 follows a comprehensive assessment based on 120 separate criteria.
The District's CCTV is operated in partnership with local towns and parishes. The CCTV service in Stratford-on-Avon District is a 24/7 Public Space CCTV monitoring service which assists in the response to crime and anti-social behaviour.
The scheme aids police officers and businesses in responding to crime as it happens by providing a live CCTV feed to the police control room and it helps to direct police resources to live events. This allows for a quicker response and better understanding of what is happening on the ground for officers before they arrive at an incident.
The CCTV service also provides high quality evidence to be used in judicial proceedings leading to convictions. Between April 2023 and March 2024, the CCTV team have handled 14,485 logs, dealt with 6,689 incidents and carried out 7,796 proactive patrols around the District.
Cllr Natalie Gist, Portfolio Holder for Law & Governance, said: "The CCTV team provides vital responses and evidence to incidents of crime, anti-social behaviour and concerns for welfare, it is therefore essential that the team operates to the highest of standards. Meeting the British Standard provides reassurance to our local communities and town and parish councils that contribute to running of the service. I wish to congratulate the CCTV Team on their hard work in continuing to achieve this accreditation for the CCTV operation across Stratford District."
