Licensing decision - Hathaway Green Stores, Stratford-upon-Avon

A convenience store in Stratford-upon-Avon has had its licence revoked following the sale of alcohol to underage teenagers.

Hathaway Green Stores, 301 Alcester Road, Stratford-upon-Avon was subject to a licensing hearing at the beginning of April following a review instigated by Warwickshire County Council's Trading Standards.

The review was also supported by Warwickshire Police and Stratford-on-Avon District Council as the Licensing Authority and followed verbal advice, visits and letters to the premises from both the District Council's Licensing Team and WCC Trading standards.

The District Council's Licensing Panel was presented with evidence of repeated sales of alcohol being made to underage customers by Mr Harvinder Sohal, the Premises Holder and Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS).

Further information of non-compliance and concerns were also presented to The Panel regarding Mr Sohal's suitability to continue to be the DPS - including a conviction in December 2022 for the sale of alcohol to a minor, as well as a number of illegal vapes being found underneath the shop counter.

The licence holder now has 21 days in which to lodge an appeal against the decision.
