Data released today by Stratford-on-Avon District Council, shows the number of people who brought ID to the polling station for local elections on 4 May.

The data shows that 99.97% of electors voting in the Stratford-on-Avon District polling stations brought photo ID that met newly introduced voter ID requirements.

There were 106,394 electors across the District who were eligible to vote on 4 May, of these, 44,896 electors voted. There were 142 polling stations.

At the end of polling day, 32 electors who tried to vote at a polling station were not given a ballot paper because they did not meet the new voter ID requirements - this represents 0.07% of those voting.

The figures also show that while 32 electors were initially turned away, 20 returned with acceptable ID and were able to vote.

This means that only 12 of those who were initially turned away did not vote (0.026%).

The overall voter turnout at the election was 42.19% which was higher than many authorities in the region.
