Free TAGactive is available this summer at Stratford Leisure Centre, for children and young people eligible for free school meals.
As part of the national Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme, the leisure centre - which is managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Stratford-on-Avon District Council - will host daily weekday sessions at its interactive indoor obstacle course, alongside providing nutritious free lunches.
The HAF initiative aims to ensure that children from families who are eligible for free school meals can enjoy an active and engaging summer break, promoting both physical wellbeing and social interaction.
Joe Warren, contract manager at Everyone Active, said, "We are thrilled to be part of the national HAF programme in Stratford-on-Avon District, providing children with the opportunity to participate in high-quality activities, regardless of their background or financial circumstances.
"Through these free summer holiday activities, we aim to create an inclusive environment where children can have fun, develop new skills and stay active during their break."
Cllr Lorraine Grocott, Environmental and Neighbourhood Services Portfolio Holder at Stratford-on-Avon District Council said: "Being healthy and active is a vital part of growing up. Being part of this programme provides not just the benefits of a nutritious meal, but also the chance to take part in activities some children may not otherwise have exposure to.
"I'm delighted the District Council is supporting this scheme which provides much needed help for families and to be working in partnership with Everyone Active to make it happen."
TAGactive is a game for all ages and takes place in a neon-lit arena. Since opening in February 2022, more than 15,000 people have taken part on the course, with tasks similar to Total Wipeout or Ninja Warrior.
The arena is split into zones, each of which contain a large number of illuminated TAGs and players collect points by 'tagging' these with a sensor on their wristband. The points value of each TAG is determined by the degree of difficulty in reaching it.
Sessions will take place every weekday, starting on Wednesday 26 July until Friday 1 September. Monday 28 August (bank holiday) is excluded.
The hourly sessions start at 10am, 11am, 12pm and 1pm.
To ensure children receive balanced meals, Everyone Active will provide free lunches during the activities. By offering healthy meals, the programme aims to promote the importance of good nutrition and its impact on overall wellbeing.
School aged children from reception to Year 11, in receipt of benefits related free school meals are eligible for HAF sessions. Parents and guardians of eligible children are encouraged to register at: https://www.warwickshire.gov.uk/directory/46/haf-summer-activities
Advance registration is required, and places are limited to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
