The Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Cllr Chris Saint has appointed Cllr Tony Jefferson (Welcombe) as Health and Community Safety Portfolio on Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Cabinet.
Cllr Jefferson's appointment is a new Portfolio Holder position which comprises CCTV, Community Safety, Health and Well Being, NHS and CCG liaison, Legal Services and Land Charges.
Cllr Chris Saint, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: "This new appointment is rather significant in the current climate, with the ongoing changes and reviews in health services; with this Portfolio position being responsible for liaising with local health and hospital services. It is vital that the District Council is represented and has a seat at the table of any discussions that affect health services across our local area."
Cllr Tony Jefferson has been a District Councillor since 2014 and is Vice Chairman of the Strategic Review Group and a member of the Leaders Policy Advisory Group. He was previously Chairman of Overview and Scrutiny Committee and a member of Audit and Standards, both these roles have been relinquished as membership is incompatible with Cabinet membership
Cllr Jefferson has lived in the District since 1987. He had a long, successful and varied career, which covered Finance, Economics, Personnel and Talent Management. He also worked in Nationalized Industries, Mutual Organisations, the Voluntary Sector and the Private Sector. His interests are current affairs, economics, the stock market and Science Fiction and Fantasy, (both books and films).
