At the end of July, a joint operation was held with Warwickshire Police and the Licensing Departments from Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Warwick District Council and the City of Wolverhampton Council, to carry out checks on taxis in Stratford-upon-Avon.

The focus was to ensure that all licensed vehicles were complying with safety regulations, and to maintain public safety.

30 vehicles were checked, with one vehicle being taken off the road for no brake lights, three were taken off the road by Warwickshire Police and reported for tyre offences.  Another vehicle was suspended due to the condition of the interior, but the suspension was lifted once it was re-presented in a clean condition.

The inspections are essential due to the increasing practice of drivers working outside the areas where they are licensed.  Operations such as these are crucial for protecting public safety and maintaining the high standard that is expected of drivers and their licensed vehicles.  They help to ensure that drivers comply with vehicle standards, insurance requirements and driver conditions.
