Low sensory inspired sessions of an interactive indoor obstacle course - known as TAGactive - are being introduced at a local leisure centre.

Stratford Leisure Centre, run by operator Everyone Active in partnership with Stratford-on-Avon District Council, has introduced quiet, accessible TAGactive sessions for children and young people who are neurodivergent, have long term health conditions, or have special educational needs.

TAGactive is a game for all ages and takes place in a neon-lit arena at the centre with tasks similar to Total Wipeout or Ninja Warrior.

The arena is split into zones, each of which contain a large number of illuminated TAGs and players collect points by 'tagging' these with a sensor on their wristband. The points value of each TAG is determined by the degree of difficulty in reaching it.

Obstacles include a giant ball hop, a giant rope bridge and a mirror maze - with the course designed to test strategy, speed, agility and bravery, all while promoting fun, fitness and competition.

The new 'Inclusive Tag' sessions will feature the same obstacle course but without music and a maximum capacity of 15 people. Parents and carers are welcome to help children attending who may need assistance while taking part.

The first Inclusive Tag session begins on Saturday, March 15 from 3-4pm and sessions thereafter will run on the third Saturday of each month. Open to individuals up to 18 years, sessions cost £9.50 per person.

Richard Bell, contract manager at Everyone Active, said: "TAGactive is a unique and engaging game at our facility which inspires fitness and fun, especially for families and friends.

"Our Inclusive Tag sessions are a brilliant addition to our wide range of activities at Stratford Leisure Centre, and have been thoughtfully designed so that all members of our younger community can enjoy this innovative activity without feeling overwhelmed."
