Stratford-on-Avon District Council has set aside a small budget to support a grant scheme designed to assist small shops, particularly in rural villages, within Stratford District.

The scheme aims to give a helping hand to local shops and businesses by providing a one off grant of up to £500 towards the cost of purchases that can enhance or promote the business.  Eligible purchases can include anything from a new till to printing promotional flyers.

The scheme is open to applications from shops and businesses within the District, with the exception of the Market Towns (Stratford-upon-Avon, Shipston-on-Stour, Alcester and Southam). Priority will be given to applications from smaller rural locations that have not had the benefit of previous funding schemes and initiatives.

Councillor Dave Riches, Enterprise & Revenues Portfolio says: “The District Council hopes that small businesses in rural areas of the District will take full advantage of this fantastic opportunity to help 'spruce up their shop fronts' in readiness for this year's 'Small Business Saturday' which takes place on Saturday 3rd December.  Small changes and improvements  can have a significant impact on businesses, whether it be a lick of paint, new lighting, promotional materials or even a new till, all of which can  help to increase footfall."

Deadline for receipt of applications is Friday 18th November, 2016.
