Bishopton Park and Ride in Stratford-upon-Avon was recently subject to a large gathering of almost 400 cars as part of the All Mods Club, which caused a number of complaints from those in the local area.

Stratford District Council, Warwickshire Police and a number of other agencies met last Friday 3 March to discuss the recent meet-up.

The multi-agency meeting was made up of representatives from Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire County Council, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue together with local MP Nadhim Zahawi to discuss the concerns raised by residents.

Cllr Robert Vaudry, District Ward member for Bishopton says: “Events such as these can be dangerous to those in the surrounding area as well as those involved.  It also causes disruption and disturbances to local residents and businesses.

“The District Council and Police don't want to discourage car enthusiasts holding an event, but any future event needs to be sensitive to the location and the impact on residents and that is what this group will try to facilitate with organisers for future events."

Car cruising - the act of drivers meeting on the public highway on either an organised or impromptu basis to race or show off in their cars - is noisy, dangerous and illegal.
