Two candidates contested the seat for the Long Compton ward for Stratford-on-Avon District Council on Thursday, 5th May.
The by-election followed the resignation in March of the previous ward member, Richard Adams (Cons).
The result is:
Stephen Charles Gray (Conservative) - 706 votes, elected
Virginia Mason (Liberal Democrat) - 523 votes
The electorate for the Long Compton ward was 1,697. Turnout for the election was 73%. Turnout for the last election at Long Compton was 53%.
The political make-up of the district council's 53 seats is now: Conservatives - 30 Liberal Democrats - 20 Independents - 3
