Housing survey

Residents in south Warwickshire are being asked for their views on housing in a joint project by two local councils from next week. Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick District Councils are carrying out the survey to find out how happy people are with their homes and whether those homes meet their current and future needs.

National research company Outside UK Ltd has been commissioned to conduct about 1,000 face-to-face interviews with local householders, while another 10,400 will asked to complete a postal questionnaire. The survey is being carried out across both Stratford and Warwick districts

"This is a vital part of our on-going research into the housing needs of local residents across the Stratford and Warwick areas," said Cllr Gillian Roache, Stratford's portfolio holder for living in the district.

"The results will help us determine the number and type of new homes required by local people over the next few years.

"We can only make good policy decisions if we have quality data on which to base them. I would urge anyone receiving a survey form to complete and return it as soon as possible.

"To help maximize efficiency and cut costs the survey is being run as a joint exercise with Warwick District Council.

The last full housing survey was carried out over six years ago, and the new survey is a vital part of informing the district council's housing and planning policy decisions. It will also provide feedback to regional government as part of the national housing assessment process.

Letters and forms for the survey will be sent out to random addresses later this week. All the information provided by residents will be treated in strictest confidence and will be used only for the purposes of the survey.
