Stratford-on-Avon District Council has received the best Christmas present it could hope for with a report from the Audit Commission, published on 20 December, saying that the Council's performance is improving well.
The Audit Commission report, following a progress assessment in October, has found that the Council is now focussing on key areas and changed the way it works in order to do this, priorities are clearer and there is better strategic focus.
"I'm extremely delighted at the progress the Council has made," said Cllr Les Topham, District Council Leader. "It is testament to the hard work and dedication of staff and councillors alike.
"We know we still have some work to do in some areas and won't rest on our laurels, but this is an excellent start."
"This is great news for the Council., We have embraced the Audit Commission's recommendations producing and delivering all targets to date of an improvement plan to help us achieve excellence. It is pleasing the dedication of staff and members to providing high quality services to the public is recognised," said Paul Lankester, the Council's Chief Executive.
The District Council will continue to work with the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (OPDM) and Audit Commission to improve still further.
