All householders in Southam will have the opportunity to save up to £200 on their heating bills by visiting Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Area Office in Southam on Thursday 9th February between 10am and 2pm.  They will receive information on the excellent grants available to everyone for cavity wall and loft insulation and can ask for a free, no obligation survey.  All visitors will also receive a free low energy lightbulb in return for completing a home energy survey.

The exhibition at The Grange on the Coventry Road is part of an energy saving campaign in Southam organised by Stratford-on-Avon District Council and the Warwickshire Energy Efficiency Advice Centre (WEEAC) to make householders in the town aware of the importance of saving energy in their homes, saving money on their fuel bills and helping to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.

Southam residents living in properties built between the 1950s and 1970s may find themselves receiving a knock at the door as the District Council has asked WEEAC to take the energy saving message to peoples' homes.  Domestic & General Insulation Ltd. one of the contractors belonging to WEEAC's network, will be carrying out the insulation work.

"It is important to make people aware of the help available to them to insulate their homes", said David Jullien, WEEAC's Chief Executive.

"A lot of people do not realise that over 50% of all the heat they pay for leaks out of their uninsulated property.  When the weather turns cold they respond by turning the thermostat up and wonder why they still are not warm enough.  By insulating their property properly they may be able to turn down the thermostat and stay warmer."

Anybody unable to visit the exhibition on the 9th February can receive energy efficiency advice by calling WEEAC on 0800 512012 or visiting the website www.weeac.org
