A public inquiry starts next week, Tuesday 4 April, into proposals to build a number of new flats and houses at Studley in Warwickshire.

The Co-operative Group has appealed against Stratford-on-Avon District Council's rejection of two planning applications to develop the site with the following proposals on land adjacent to the Co-op store on the Alcester Road in Studley:

Application 1. Two single-bedroom flats, 14 two-bedroom flats, five three-bedroom flats, 33 parking spaces, cycle and bin store.

Application 2. Five single-bedroom flats, 14 two-bedroom flats and houses, five three-bedroom houses, 29 parking spaces, cycle and bin storage, landscaping.

The District Council has refused the applications on grounds that the height and bulk of buildings would have an overbearing impact on the surrounding area, the lack of parking provision and legal agreements not being signed.

The inquiry, expected to last for one day, will be held at the district council offices at Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon, starting at 10.00am. A government planning inspector will preside over the inquiry.

Members of the public may attend the inquiry and express their views - at the discretion of the inspector.
