On Monday 22 May Council officials will be holding a presentation ceremony for local food businesses in recognition of implementing a system that allows them to comply with the new Food Legislation of 2006.
In October 2005 Stratford-on-Avon District Council was awarded a grant from the Food Standards Agency to assist 220 local food businesses to take up a food safety system called Safer Food Better Business in order to comply with the new legislation.
All businesses must now have a documented food safety management system to conform to the new legislation that came into force in January 2006.
The District Council has held 8 free workshops to introduce the new legislation, followed by one-to-one coaching sessions by the food safety team and so far over 100 people have attended these workshops; ranging from Bed and Breakfast establishments, schools, nurseries, pubs and restaurants.
Another 9 workshops are planned, for further information or to book a place please contact Angela Lloyd at Stratford-on-Avon District Council on 01789 260827.
The first group of local businesses to implement the new food safety system and successfully complete the programme have been invited to the District Council offices to receive their certificates showing their completion of training and compliance with the regulations. Robert Weeks, Head of Environment, will make the presentation.
