Council officials monitoring this weekend's Global Gathering 2006 Dance event at the Long Marston airfield in south Warwickshire will be using a silent car for their patrols of the local villages, to avoid disturbance to the residents.

The vehicle they will be using, loaned to them by Listers Toyota of Stratford, is an electric/petrol hybrid. Utilising just electric power at low and mid-range speeds, it runs silently. Thereafter, it seamlessly switches between the petrol engine and an electric motor, regenerating electricity to recharge its batteries at every opportunity and so helping boost its other environmental credentials, for low air pollution.

The event will run from 5pm on Friday 28 July to 2am Saturday 29 July and 2pm on Saturday 29 July to 6am Sunday 30 July.

If despite the Council's efforts, noise from the event is excessive the number for local residents in the event of any complaints is: 01789 414066.

Just this month Councillors at Stratford-on-Avon District Council agreed to the public entertainment license for the event.  Environmental Health officials and Licensing Officers will be monitoring the event for any breaches of the license conditions.

The applicant, Angel Festivals Limited, had applied for a license for this 2 day event, with an audience of 45,000, over the two days. Angel Festivals Limited, can be contacted on 01926 840301.
