The Chairman of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Cllr Mike Brain, will be making a number of presentations to local people next Monday 24 July at 12.30pm.

Heather Brown Secretary for former Councillor Anita Macaulay will receive a cheque for £1,469 in honour of Anita Macaulay who tragically died suddenly from a brain haemorrhage earlier this year.   The money collected by the Chairman will go to The Jennifer Trust for Spinal Muscular Atrophy of which Anita was Founder and Chief Executive.

Philip Walker from Stratford-upon-Avon will receive the fourth Fred Parrott Shield, awarded in recognition of those members of our community who have served their fellows over a number of years, either as Councillor or in some other capacity.

Fred Parrott was one of the District Council's oldest serving elected members and had been a Councillor for 50 years before his death in 2002.  He was the Conservative ward member for Stratford Alveston.  During his time he held the chairmanships of both District and County Councils, as well as Mayor of the Borough of Stratford in 1959/60.

The award consists of a wooden shield with five badges that were originally presented to Fred Parrott and his wife Joan, together with an inscription on a metal plate.  Previous winners include Muriel Pogmore, John Grantham and William McCarthy.
