Longer opening hours shouldn't mean more noise

The Licensing Act 2003 allows licensed premises to apply for increased opening hours and some licencees within the District have taken this opportunity.  Many licences have been issued with specific conditions relating to noise which if breached would have to be reviewed.  

Landlords across south Warwickshire are being advised to consider their neighbours when customers are enjoying the longer days and licensing hours, otherwise action will be taken.  

The warning comes from Stratford-on-Avon District Council, which is reminding people, of its out-of-hours Environmental Health service, particularly to deal with noise generated from licensed premises.  

The service operates on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays between 9.00pm through to 1.00am.

Last year the District Council dealt with over 800 noise complaints, ranging from barking dogs to wedding parties. Most were amicably resolved, but the District Council will take legal action on persistent problems.
