A public inquiry starts next week on Tuesday 17 July, following an appeal by Retirement Security Ltd against the demolition and redevelopment of an existing healthcare facility at Tiddington Fields, Main Street, Tiddington.

The appeal relates to a planning application for the demolition of the existing healthcare facility and the construction of extra care sheltered accommodation, comprising 43 one and two bed apartments plus two staff bedrooms in Tiddington.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council has refused the application on the grounds:

1.     The proposed scheme is not a small-scale development to meet local needs in accordance with Local Choice policy COM.1

2.     The proposed scheme conflicts with the District-wide housing moratorium

3.     The height and scale of the building would harm visual amenities

4.     Financial contributions to affordable housing provision, library facilities and provision of a pedestrian crossing have not been secured

The inquiry, expected to last for 2 days, will be held at the Council Offices, Elizabeth House, Church Street, Stratford-upon-Avon starting at 10am.  A Government Planning Inspector will preside over the inquiry.

Members of the public may attend the inquiry and express their view - at the discretion of the inspector.
