The swimming pools in Stratford will be closed to the public from Sunday 1 July and reopen on Monday 3 September. During the period of closure the rest of the centre will be open for business as usual.

Stratford-on-Avon District Council announced this week that Buckingham Swimming Pools Ltd has been awarded the contract to replace the pipe work of the two swimming pools at Stratford Leisure & Visitor Centre (SLVC).

"There was never going to be a right time to carry out these works and close the pools" says Cllr Chris Williams, Community Services Portfolio Holder.

"In agreement with Sports Leisure Management (SLM), the District Council took the decision to close the pools to allow refurbishment to take place as quickly as possible with minimal disruption to customers".

SLM who operate the facility on behalf to the District Council are in the process of writing to all centre's members who will be affected by the pool closure.

A public meeting will be held on Wednesday 13 June at 7pm in the Seminar Room at Stratford Leisure and Visitor Centre for users to discuss the proposal.
