Basketball featured highly at the beginning of 2008, with a number of the District's female Secondary School students taking part against each other at Stratford Leisure and Visitor Centre.
The Annual event, organised by Stratford-on-Avon District Council, saw the following Schools take part in the Girls Under 16 and Under 13 tournaments. The Secondary Schools who took part were:
Alcester Grammar
Alcester High
Henley in Arden High
Shipston-on-Stour High
St.Benedict's High
Stratford Girls Grammar
Studley High
7 out of 10 of the District's Secondary Schools were represented and 110 children took part.
Congratulations go to St. Benedicts High School who managed to repeat their 2007 success by winning both the U16s and U13s Girls' tournaments again with each being crowned 2008 champions for their age.
More impressively was the fact that neither the U16 or U13 team lost a game, however the U16's beat runners-up Stratford Girls' Grammar by the number of baskets scored as their their head-to-head match and points were level. The tournaments were played in good spirit and each competitor was awarded a certificate of participation.
