Funding is still available from Stratford-on-Avon District Council for households flooded during the July 2007 floods.

But time is running out with the deadline for applications being Tuesday 1st April 2008.

The Government awarded the District Council £623,000 compensation and the District Council's Executive decided to send out cheques for £250 to all District residents affected by the adverse weather conditions, to 'give something to everyone whose home was flooded'

The only criteria for this funding was that 'flood water had to have entered your property'.  So far 1,003 applications have been processed, leaving around £372,250 unclaimed.

At the time questionnaires were circulated to identify the extent of flooding experienced and help provide information on how best to target further support.  Applications for the £250 payment can be made even if you were insured or live in a static caravan, and there is no age limit although only one payment per household will be made.

The District Council is aware that some residents may not have been able to claim this funding as some may still not be back in the property that was flooded or are unsure if they are eligible.

For further information and an application form please contact Robert Walsh, Head of Community Services at Stratford-on-Avon District Council on 01789 260106.

Additional funding from the Red Cross is available for District residents who have suffered extra hardship.  Many residents have already written to the District Council expressing their gratitude for the money received with moving stories.
