Hundreds of miles of roads, streets and pavements throughout the Stratford-on-Avon District Council area will benefit from significant investment by municipal specialist Verdant.
Two days ago, Verdant began deploying several brand-new vehicles it had purchased to support its new seven year cleansing contract for Stratford-on-Avon District Council which starts in August. That's the month that the company also starts a new seven year waste and recycling collection contract.
New Vehicles and Crew As part of its commitment to maintaining already-good public cleansing standards, Verdant has invested over £400,000 in new equipment which has already started work in the area. Three brand-new vehicles - a 3½ tonnes cage litter pick vehicle, a 7½ tonnes sweeper vehicle, and a 15 tonnes sweeper vehicle - have been purchased to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity on cleansing rounds.
Nearer to August, Verdant business manager Paul Dyer says he plans to increase Verdant's mobile cleansing crews from four to five, while the number of daily barrow beats in the town centre will go up from two to three. A separate new mobile crew is to be created to pick litter on the main roads in the area.
According to Dyer, the new vehicles at work now and the extra crews in August mean that Stratford's cleanliness standards continue to meet the expectations of residents and visitors alike.
"Stratford has a population of around 120,000 and at 979 sq / kilometres, is one of the largest English districts," he said
"Those factors, plus economic growth and tourism increases, place particular demands on cleansing. But I'm confident that our lengthy local experience, significant investment and professional commitment will do the trick."
