The CCTV pole at the church/Barclay Bank location in Henley High Street is to be removed on a temporary basis while options for the longer term provision of CCTV in the town are considered.
The removal of the pole is due to start on Thursday 5 June.
Contractors will be on site to carry out the removal work, following which further options will be considered regarding suitability and acceptability to the local residents as well as issues regarding safety.
The Parish Council and residents in Henley-in-Arden have made requests for CCTV for a number of years and it was included in the District Council's 2005-2008 Corporate Strategy.
"The location of CCTV cameras is dictated by crime patterns and geography. The current locations were identified on the basis of crime patterns in the town, but we are working with community representatives to ensure that both acceptability and safety are met" says Robert Walsh, Head of Community Services.
