Over 100,000 new wheeled bins will be delivered to households in Stratford-on-Avon District during May, June and July in preparation for the new refuse and recycling service starting on Monday 4 August.

The first bin roll-out begins at the end of May and beginning of June for residents in:
Tanworth-in-Arden, Earlswood, Studley, Sambourne, Mappleborough Green, Kings Coughton, Great Alne and Little Alne.

Residents will receive a new grey wheeled bin for all general household waste, to replace the sacks and another one with a blue lid for all recycling materials which will include plastic bottles and cardboard.

"This is a major logistical operation delivering over 100,000 wheeled bins to District residents," says Robert Weeks, Head of Environment.

"Residents will not be able to use the new bins until the start of the new contract in August.  But when the new contract is operational remember you will still have the same amount of waste to store as now, only we need residents to put it into different containers and we are only really asking residents to accommodate one new bin and replacing your back boxes with another bin and the majority of residents all ready have a green bin.

"With the support of residents this new and improved service, being carried out by Verdant, aims to decrease the District's waste, increase recycling and provide better value for your money. For those homes with no garden or which have no rear access then alternative arrangements will be made to ensure that everyone has equal opportunity to recycle."

The new service will start on Monday 4 August and is a wheeled bin collection service which will include cardboard, plastic bottles and a weekly collection of kitchen waste.

The new service aims to:

  • Decrease the District's waste
  • Increase recycling
  • Provide better value for money.
