Services provided by Stratford-on-Avon District Council are unlikely to be seriously affected by the industrial action on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 July 2008.

The District Council is awaiting further details from UNISON on their strike plans and ongoing discussions are taking place, but like other authorities the District Council will be working to ensure that any impact on services to the public is minimised.

Plans are in place to ensure that disruptions to services are kept to a minimum and the District Council's website will be updated regularly to keep people informed of any areas where services are affected.

"We probably won't know until the days of the strike exactly what, if any, impact it will have, but we will do our best to minimise this and to maintain services as far as possible," says Councillor Les Topham, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council.

The trade unions Unison and Unite have called the two-day strike for 16 and 17 July after rejecting a final pay offer made nationally of 2.45% for the year 2008/09.
