On 3 February, the Government announced measures to help protect millions of households from rising energy costs in 2022 to 2023.
These measures include a one-off £150 non-repayable rebate for households in England in council tax bands A - D, known as the Council Tax Rebate.
This will be in the form of a payment of £150 per household and is not a reduction off your bill. There is one payment per household regardless of the number of occupants or council taxpayers named on the bill.
The District Council has now received Government guidance and over the coming weeks will be working on this to identify and make the £150 rebate payment to qualifying households.
Funding is expected to be received at the end of March and all Council Tax Rebate payments will need to be made by 30 September 2022. It is anticipated, following verification checks, the first payments will start to be made towards the end of April/beginning of May however this will be confirmed when the timescales have been finalised.
Please do not telephone or email us as we will publish the timescales here when these have been confirmed.
Also please note, the District Council will NOT be calling residents about the £150 Council Tax Rebate, so any approach is a scam and people should not divulge their bank account details.
