Active Community Officers organising a Christmas Walk and lunch in partnership with Stratford Town Walks have been overwhelmed by the response from eager walkers aged 45 and above.

The walk includes a guided tour following in Shakespeare's footsteps to see the Shakespeare town houses, Grammar School, Royal Shakespeare Theatres, Holy Trinity Church to list a few. The tour will include historical stories of all the fires, flooding, plague, mediaeval cures, old fashioned sayings and history of the town followed by a Christmas drink and lunch at the Tramway Inn.

The health walks we (Paula and Kally) lead in conjunction with our volunteer walk leaders throughout the Stratford District have been really successful, but the response to this particular themed Christmas walk has been overwhelming. It has brought in walkers from each of our 8 schemes we have had to split the group into two in order to accommodate 45 participants! say Paula Watson and Kally Laity, Active Community Officers at Stratford-on-Avon District Council.

We were delighted that Mr. and Mrs. Hogg, who run the award-winning Stratford Town Walks, agreed to provide their guiding experience and historical knowledge absolutely free for the benefit of our walkers, making this a real Christmas treat.
Also as an early Christmas present to the walkers Blacks the outdoor clothing specialist has given all participants a 10% discount voucher.

Future events for next year include walks to a bluebell wood and picnic walk.
