Last week saw the introduction of a new way of allocating housing association homes in Stratford-on-Avon District.

From 2 December residents waiting for housing in Stratford District have been using the new scheme; Home Choice Plus, allowing them to see what properties are available each week and to express an interest by bidding on homes they are interested in.

At the end of the first week of operating the new scheme, Stratford-on-Avon District Council recorded a total number of 322 bids for the 15 properties available.

"I am very pleased that Home Choice Plus has been introduced successfully in Stratford-on-Avon District, says Councillor Stephen Gray, Portfolio Holder for Revenues and Housing.

The fact that so many bids have been placed in the first week shows the enthusiasm with which home seekers have embraced Home Choice Plus and demonstrates the transparency of the new scheme."

Home Choice Plus, a partnership of six local authorities working together, is operated in Stratford-on-Avon District area by Stratford Councils Housing Advice Team.

Those seeking housing association homes in the District who wish to find out more about the scheme can do so via the Home Choice Plus website at www.homechoiceplus.org.uk or by contacting the Councils Housing Advice Team on 01789 260 861 or via email to housingadviceteam@stratford-dc.gov.uk
