Stratford-on-Avon District Council is pleased to be part of celebrations to mark Armed Forces Day by raising a flag outside Elizabeth House on Monday 22 June at 10.30am.

The Chairman, Cllr Gillian Roache, will hoist the flag at the same time as hundreds of other communities across the country, to show support for the armed forces community.

The flag will fly throughout the week until Armed Forces Day, which is on 27 June.

Armed Forces Day gives everyone the opportunity to show support for the people who make up the armed forces community, and this is the first time so many groups of people across the UK have joined together to simultaneously raise a flag to celebrate Armed Forces Day.

"I'm delighted to be supporting the first annual Armed Forces Day which honours the Armed Services Community. It's a great opportunity to show our support for those who make up the Armed Forces - from veterans to currently serving troops and new recruits.  This is a really special event both locally and nationally, and I'm glad that we are acknowledging this by raising a flag in unison with other councils across the country, says Gillian Roache, Chairman of Stratford District Council.
