Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Cabinet today, Monday 6 September has recommended that 9 affordable homes be built on Plot DD Trinity Mead in Stratford-upon-Avon.

As part of a Collaboration Agreement from the development of the Trinity Mead Estate the District Council has the right to take ownership of the land and because the finished development is now to a higher density than originally anticipated the District Council is obliged to provide more affordable homes.

Councillor Stephen Gray, Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council says: "There were a number of options available for the use of this part of the site but as affordable homes are one of the Council's main priorities, The Cabinet felt that this was the most appropriate choice.

"The Cabinet also considered the possibility of some form of community facility, but since the funding for such a facility was uncertain, it was decided that the best option was to secure the site for affordable housing. These nine homes will be in addition to the 90 affordable houses already built on the development."

The 0.7 acres of land already has outline planning permission for residential development and is not affected by the current housing moratorium.
