The WRCC announced the results of Warwickshire's Best Village competition at the Community Leisure Centre in Wolston on Wednesday 22nd September 2010.

Marton in Rugby Borough took the overall title, having won prizes in four out of the six categories.  They took home an impressive silver cup and a cheque for £550.

In joint second place were Quinton and Bubbenhall, with only a fraction of a mark between them!  They also took silver cups home in addition to prize money.  In third place was Wolvey, who were also given the award for 'most improved village'.

The judges commented that the standard of entries was extremely high this year, which made it even more difficult to select winners.

Each village was judged against other villages of a similar size and prizes were awarded to the top three villages in each category.  Competition Organiser, Ariadne Uslu said: "The focus of our competition is on the work villagers do to sustain their community.  We want to celebrate their achievements with them."
