Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Cabinet meeting today, Monday 25 October, identified a further saving of £419,000 a year following the decision to review the Senior Management Structure.

The Cabinet has approved a revised Senior Management structure of Option 4 with a Chief Executive, no Strategic Directors and 6 Heads of Service to be in place by 31 March 2011.

Option 4 reduces the numbers of managers at both Strategic Director and Head of Service level, with the Chief Executive retaining a focus on transformation and corporate strategy, but also being responsible for the management of Heads of Service.

The Cabinet will now meet next week to discuss the make-up of service areas and this will be brought forward as an urgent item at next week's Cabinet meeting on Monday 1 November.

Councillor Stephen Gray, Leader says: "We regret having to make this decision as we hold our staff in high regard.  The Comprehensive Spending review has indicated that we must make substantial savings over the next 4 years.  The Council has reduced in size over recent years; this step brings the management into line with other changes that have been made."

The Cabinet's decision is still subject to the District Council's call-in procedure.
