Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Local Development Framework Group is working and planning on a new interim housing figure for Stratford District following the abolition of the Regional Spatial Strategy.

The cross-party working group meets again next week to make recommendations to The Cabinet in November.

Councillor Gillian Roache, Planning Portfolio says: "One of the first tasks for the group is to set an interim housing figure for the District, but it won't be set in stone. As we progress with the Core Strategy process we may need to change it if we get new data or evidence to suggest that the proposed number is unsustainable.

"This is a major decision which will inform development across the District for the next 15 years. I have impressed on the working group the importance of reaching a decision which will benefit residents across the District, setting the scene so we address housing need more widely across the District in both urban and rural communities."

The Members of the Local Development Framework working group are: Cllrs Beamer, Hobbs, Honychurch, James, Moorse, Stevens and Roache.

The next meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 26 October 2010.
