Stratford-on-Avon District Sports Awards 2011

The nominations are now closed and the voting begins shortly for the ninth Annual District Sports Awards.

The awards evening organised by Stratford-on-Avon District Council, hosted by the Holiday Inn Hotel and sponsored by NFU Mutual, SLM Ltd, VASA and the Stratford Herald newspaper will be taking place on Friday 14^th January 2011.

Three categories are open to the public vote this year and votes can be placed by visiting www.stratford.gov.uk/sportsawards and clicking on your favourite sports person or team. Voting opens on Saturday 18^th December and closes at midnight on Sunday 9^th January.

The successful finalists to be voted on this year are:

Junior Sports Person of the Year

• Brandon Hitchman, Stratford High School Basketball;
• Camilla Hadland, Stratford-upon-Avon Rowing Club;
• Isobel Roberts, Leamington Spa Archery Club;
• Joe Evans, Stratford Sharks Swimming Club;
• Oliver Edkins, St Benedict's RC School Athletics;
• Tilly James, Stratford Girls Grammar School Sailing.
  

Junior Team of the Year

• Kineton High School Shooting Team;
• Shipston High School Cross-Country Team;
• Stratford Athletic Club Junior Team;
• Thomas Jolyffe Primary School Girls Football Team.
  

Alternative' Sport Individual or Team of the Year

• Amelia Teehan, Salford Priors Primary School Irish Dancing;
• Beci Dale, Blue & White Rope Skippers;
• Jordan King, Princethorpe College Karting;
• Megan Bignell, British Equestrian Vaulting;
• Nicole Brain, Cherwell Canoe Club.

There are seven further categories and judges have met to decide the winners of these awards. The finalists for these categories will be listed later.
