Warwickshire Police wants to reduce the amount of alcohol related violence this Christmas and is warning would-be offenders that they could spend a night behind the wrong kind of bar if they misbehave.

Many of us enjoy a drink or two at Christmas, whether on a night out with family and friends or at the annual work do, and for most of us it's not a problem.

But for some “one too many" can trigger violent behaviour which can threaten the safety of anyone.

The warning from the police is that they will not tolerate any violence and those who commit such offences will be brought to justice, beginning with a night behind bars.

If you or anyone you know ends up in this position you could face court proceedings and, depending on the severity of the offence, a fine or prison sentence. Health and job prospects could also be affected.

You can avoid this by drinking sensibly throughout the festive season and stay in the bars you choose.

Remember this message from Warwickshire Police -   “Our bars are open 24/7".  But they don't serve much festive spirit!

You may wish to use the NHS iPhone and iTouch app to keep track of your alcohol intake on a night out. Or access their online unit calculator from any phone with an internet connection.  http://www.nhs.uk/Tools/Pages/iphonedrinks.aspx
