On Monday 24 January Councillors on Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Audit and Regulatory Committee voted unanimously to take direct action for the demolition of two unauthorised extensions at Cank Farm, Tanworth-in-Arden, in the event the planning appeal (for an alternative scheme) is dismissed.

In coming to the unanimous decision the Committee heard from Tanworth-in-Arden Parish Council, Residents Action Group and their Solicitor, Ward members and a Planning Agent representing Summers Poultry Products Ltd on the unauthorised extensions to the slaughterhouse in the Green Belt.

Councillor Chris Saint, Chairman of Audit and Regulatory Committee says: “The Committee voted unanimously to take direct action on the two extensions to the slaughterhouse which are both subject of a robust Enforcement Notice.  This site has an extensive planning and enforcement history and in light of this and the harm to The Green Belt there was little alternative for the Committee to take."

The Committee's decision will now go to The Cabinet to approve the costs involved with the decision to take direct action.
