On Monday 14 February Councillors on Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Audit and Regulatory Committee voted unanimously to issue an Enforcement and Stop Notice relating to the unauthorised development at Rainbow Nurseries, Welford-on-Avon.

Councillor Chris Saint, Audit and Regulatory Committee Chairman says: “The Committee voted unanimously to issue an Enforcement Notice to uphold the earlier refusal of planning permission as residential occupation of this site was not sustainable.  The Committee also authorised a Stop Notice designed to prevent any further unauthorised development at the site."

  • During the weekend of 29 and 30 January 2 caravans along with 2 portaloos were moved onto Rainbow Nurseries at Welford-on-Avon.  The existing hardstanding has also been re-surfaced and a 1.2m high fence has been erected along part of the site.
  • A planning application 10/01796/FUL for 'Change of use of part of garden nursery to use as residential caravan site for two gypsy families with a total of 4 caravans and associated works' was refused by the District Council in December 2010.
  • A Public Inquiry is expected in late Spring following an appeal against the refusal of planning permission - APP/J3720/A/11/2146405/NWF.
