Stratford-on-Avon District Council's Sports Development Team has been awarded an 'Excellent' Quest registration, recognising high quality within UK Sport and Leisure.

An industry standard developed by Sport England, Quest measures specific elements of sports development work including research, management, health and safety, customer service, partnership working and more.

The District Council's Sports Development Team was assessed during a two day visit from an external assessor on 20 to 21 January 2011, speaking to staff, volunteers and partners of the Sports Development service. The team achieved a score of 84% improving their overall score by 2% from the 2008 mark of 82%.

Cllr Mike Brain, Technical Services Portfolio says: “I am very proud that we have gained this accreditation for the District Council. The report from Quest recognises the excellent work that the team has contributed to the delivery of the Council's corporate objectives and the real impact that they have done in promoting sport and active recreation to all sections of the community."

As a quality recognition award, Quest encourages organisations to provide improved sports and leisure activities by promoting customer service, making sure sport and leisure services are well managed and setting best practice standards. Quest encourages continual improvement and as such the Council will have an annual maintenance visit and be reassessed again in two years time.
