Officials from Stratford-on-Avon District Council are advising that despite the number of road closures in Stratford-upon-Avon town centre for Her Majesty The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh's visit, it's business as usual.

Although there are a number of road closures and there will be on-street parking restrictions in the town, the District Council car parks remain open.

However if you are planning to travel by car into Stratford-upon-Avon on Friday you are advised to use Warwickshire County Council's Park and Ride facility at Bishopston Road or Riverside and Bridgefoot car parks if approaching from the other direction to prevent any traffic problems.

Road closures in Stratford Town centre from 4am on Friday 4 March:

  • Waterside between Bridge Street and The Paddock
  • Sheep Street from the entrance to Red Lion Court to Waterside
  • Chapel Lane from the entrance to the RSC Building to Waterside

Barriers will be put in place to clearly identify the road closures.

If a vehicle is parked within one of these closures after 4am on Friday, March 4 efforts will be made to trace the owner but if this proves unsuccessful the vehicle will be removed for security reasons and the owner will be charged for the removal of the vehicle.

Parking restrictions in Stratford Town Centre

  • Waterside and Southern Lane
  • Sheep Street (from Waterside to the entrance with Red Lion Court)
  • Chapel Lane
  • Bridge Street (from Waterside to outside McDonalds Restaurant)

Again, if a vehicle is parked where No Waiting Cones are located efforts will be made to trace the owner but if this proves unsuccessful the vehicle will be removed for security reasons and the owner will be charged for the removal of the vehicle.
