The recently refurbished play area in Stratford Recreation Ground will be officially opened by the Chairman of Stratford-on-Avon District Council, Cllr Eric Payne and Cllr Mike Brain, Technical Services Portfolio on Friday May 27th at 12noon.

The Recreation Ground project has cost £90,000 and has been funded from the Government's Playbuilder scheme.

The new layout incorporates a large fishing boat centrepiece with Dolphin Springer's and a drawbridge all set on a safety surface designed to represent the sea. An adjacent sand play area with diggers and sieves is accessible via a ramp to the Hawaii multi play and also includes a water play feature.

Councillor Mike Brain, Technical Services Portfolio for the District Council says: “It's so important for local communities to have great play facilities situated in the right places. The completion of work at Stratford Recreation Ground brings to a close the five play area refurbishment projects across the district funded by the Playbuilder programme. We are really delighted with the results."

Other Playbuilder Schemes funded in the District include:

  • £37,500 for Big Meadow Recreational Area, Bidford-on-Avon

  • £15,489 for Tollgate Road Play Area, Southam and

  • £42,500 for Conway Fields, Alcester
