A new cycle route between Shipston-on-Stour and Southam has been developed as part of The Vision for Shipston partnership between representatives of the town and Stratford District Council.

The Leader of Stratford-on-Avon District Council and Chairman of Vision for Shipston, Cllr Chris Saint is to officially launch the new Shipston to Southam cycle route on Sunday 5 Juen at 11.15am starting at The Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground*, near Tysoe.

The route is a continuation of the route between Shipston-on-Stour and Moreton-in Marsh which was developed as a previous project of the partnership and is described in an accompanying leaflet which also includes information about the landscape through which the route passes and the heritage features along the way.

The whole of the route has been adopted by SUSTRANS the Bristol based developer of the National Cycle Network as the Warwickshire section of National Cycle Network Route 48 which runs cross country from the southwest to the northeast via National Cycle Network Route 41 between Leamington Spa and Rugby.

All cyclists welcome for the inaugural cycle of the new route.

*The Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground, which is being developed as a mosaic of wildlife habitats, is signed from the A422 at the bottom of Edgehill and is on the road towards Middle Tysoe.

Cyclists wishing to learn about the route and receive a leaflet are requested to meet at the Sun Rising Natural Burial Ground, where refreshments will be provided, in time for the launch ceremony.  For further information please contact Emma Restall Orr, Nature Burial Grounds on 07792294414.
