During adverse weather conditions, some services provided by Stratford-on-Avon District Council may be affected and the District Council has taken steps in preparation for any snow or icy conditions over the coming winter months.

The District Council will endeavour to provide normal services wherever possible, however, where roads have become dangerous or impassable the decision may be taken to suspend street cleaning and refuse and recycling collection services until conditions improve.

Part of the proactive measures the District Council is taking includes a partnership approach with the District Council's contractor Biffa and Warwickshire County Council. In the coming months, if the street cleaning or refuse and recycling services have to be suspended due to snow or ice, the Contractor's workforce will be utilised to help Warwickshire County Council to grit and clear snow off pavements in key areas of the District.

Cllr Mike Brain Technical Services Portfolio says: “The decision to suspend District Council services is not taken lightly but the health and safety of our staff, contractors and the public are of paramount importance to the District Council. This is a really partnership approach for using spare resource to grit walkways as it will make the best use of all the available manpower.

“I would ask that during any weather disruption that residents be patient and keep up to date with information on the District Council's website or listen out for bulletins on the local radio stations. When conditions have improved suitably, services will be reinstated."
